The much-awaited launch of Samsung's flagship Android-based smartphone Galaxy S3 in India is just a couple of days away, if the reports are to be believed. The Korean electronic powerhouse has plans to release the successor of successful Galaxy S2, on May 31 in New Delhi.

Meanwhile, another famous smartphone maker Nokia has lined up its latest high-end phone for June release: Nokia Lumia 900, which is likely to clash with the rival Samsung Galaxy S3. Interestingly, both might go up for sales in India relatively at the same time.

The Lumia 900 is already available in US and across Europe and had received thumps up for its features and performance, elegant look and for its price. But how good it is when put up against the Galaxy S3? Let's see.

Operating System: It is one of the key differences between among these phones. While the Nokia Lumia 900 operates on Windows Phone 7.5 Mango, the Samsung Galaxy S3 runs on Google's latest iteration and much preferred OS Android 4.0- Ice Cream Sandwich.

Processors and Memory: The Lumia 900 has 1.4GHz single-core processor coupled with 512 MB of RAM and 16 GB of in-built memory, which is non-expandable. Whereas the Galaxy S3 is powered-by the Samsung Exynos Quad 1.4GHz quad-core and has 1GB of RAM onboard. Meanwhile, the Galaxy spots Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen, 16M colors, 720 x 1280 pixels, 4.8 inches (306 ppi pixel density), multitouch, Corning Gorilla Glass 2, TouchWiz UI v4.0.

Camera:  The Lumia 900 boasts a 8-megapixel rear camera, with Carl Zeiss optics, dual LED flash, auto focus and alows 720p video recording. Also, features a one megapixel VGA front-facing secondary camera for video calling. Lumia 900 is preinstalled with- Tango Video Calls software- that enables vide calling via WiFi.

The Galaxy S3 features a 8-megapixel with 3264x2448 pixels, autofocus, LED flash, HD video and image recording, geo-tagging, touch focus, face and smile detection and image stabilization features to mix.

Battery: The Lumia 900 has 1830mAh Li-Ion batterr. In contrast, the Galaxy S3 is said to have a powerful Li-Ion 2050mAh battery.

Although both the handsets are equipped with features to trump the competition amongst the high-end phones category, it's the Galaxy S3 which emerges as a sure winner, given the amazing specifications.
