The wait for Samsung's much anticipated smartphone with curved screen, tipped as Samsung Galaxy Round, has finally come to an end. The Korean tech firm has announced the smartphone, confirming all the rumours that have been doing the rounds.

Samsung Galaxy Round has been announced only for the Korean audience and not worldwide. It has been widely speculated that the firm wanted to release the handset in limited numbers to get feedback from the buyers and gauge market reaction.

Some rumours also stated that the device will be one of the variants of the recently launched Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and will be named as Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Active. Since the device has been released and the specifications have been confirmed, one would find most of the specs to be the same. The only difference between the two devices is the curved screen, the missing S-Pen and the processors.

Following is a comparison of the specs of Samsung Galaxy Round (from Android Authority) and Samsung Galaxy Note 3 (from Samsung.com)

Display:

Samsung Galaxy Round smartphone stands apart because of its curved screen display, which has not been carried by any of the smartphone till date. Besides the curved screen, Galaxy Round sports a 5.7in Full HD Super AMOLED curved screen, which is exactly the same as Samsung Galaxy Note 3. The only difference one can expect is the pixel density of the screen.

OS:

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 as well as Samsung Galaxy Round smartphones share the latest Android 4.3 Jelly Bean OS. Users can also expect the availability of Android 4.4 Kitkat OS in both the handsets as soon as Google releases it.

Processors:

Samsung Galaxy Note 3's LTE variant features a 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Krait 400 processor and the 3G version sports a 1.9GHz quad-core Cortex-A15 and 1.3GHz quad-core Cortex-A7 chip, according to GSM Arena. The Samsung Galaxy Round is however, reported to feature the firm's proprietary Exynos 2.3GHz quad-core processor. However, Android Central states that the device might carry a MSM 8974 quad-core Krait at 2.3 GHz.

RAM:

Both the models share the same RAM - 3GB for better multi-tasking.

Camera:

Samsung Galaxy Round is reported to feature a 13 megapixel rear camera, same as that in Samsung Galaxy Note 3. The information on the front camera has not been disclosed yet, but the device is expected to sport the same 2 megapixel camera like that in Galaxy Note 3.

Connectivity:

Not much is known about the connectivity features of the Samsung Galaxy Round, but the LTE-A sign can be seen imprinted on the back panel of the device as seen in the pictures. The device is expected to come with the latest Bluetooth 4.0 (LE), NFC and Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n as these features are also seen in Galaxy Note 3.

Battery:

Samsung Galaxy Round is said to come with a 2800mAh battery capacity, which is much lower than Galaxy Note 3's 3200mAh battery.

One of the Samsung Galaxy Round unique features tipped as Roll Effect can be seen in the video below:
