Samsung may be currently gearing up for the launch of its flagship smartphones, the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge, but talks about the next big thing from the Note series, the Galaxy Note 6, has already begun.

The upcoming Galaxy Note 6 is expected to be released in August, by the time its predecessor completes a year in the market. Reportedly, the device is also coming with the Galaxy S7 edge+.

Looking at the present scenario, Samsung fans could be confused either to buy the Galaxy Note 5 or wait for the release of Galaxy Note 6. So, let's look at what the current flagship device offers and if it's worth waiting for months for the new device.

The Galaxy Note 5 was not received well, at least not as well as its predecessors, but it doesn't mean that it is not a good device. In fact, it is one of the best handsets currently available in the market.

The device has a great display and up-to-date hardware. Sporting a 5.7-inch WQHD super AMOLED touchscreen with 2,560x1,440 pixels (515 ppi pixel density), it is still one of the devices with best display. Under the hood, it has an Exynos 7420 processor clocking at 1.5GHz, Android 5.1.1 Lollipop (upgradable to Android Marshmallow), 4GB RAM, 16MP main camera, 5MP front-snapper, and a 3,000 mAh battery.

One of the criticisms the device received from gadget lovers is its similarity with the Galaxy S6, from looks to hardware. It also received flaks for discarding microSD card slot, though it has 32/64/128GB internal storage options. Apart from these rather minor loopholes, the Galaxy Note 5 is a good device.

So, should you buy Galaxy Note 5 or wait for the Galaxy Note 6?

It may be noted that the Galaxy Note 6 is still almost six months away, or even more if Samsung decides to postpone its release. Nobody knows if the upcoming device will have all the speculated features. It's all speculations at the moment. So, Note fans will not regret buying the Galaxy Note 5.

On the other hand, the Galaxy Note 6 is expected to be a game-changer for Samsung. A Weibo user HG_VISION (via PhoneArena) has claimed in a post that the device will sport a 5.8-inch Slim RGB AMOLED display with 2560x1440 pixels, come packed with a 64GB/128GB internal memory and a 6GB LPDDR4 High-Speed RAM and house a 12MP camera with "Super O.I.S. Plus."

There were also reports that the device will have a 5.7-inch display, a 64GB/128GB internal storage with microSD card slot, 6GB RAM and a 12MP main camera with upgraded sensor. It was also reported that Samsung could introduce one of its patents, that is a foldable S Pen, in the Galaxy Note 6.

However, one has to take the leaked specifications of the Galaxy Note 6 with a pinch of salt at the moment, as they are only speculations. Nothing about the device is certain at the moment, but it would be worth waiting for as it should come with several feature upgrades over its predecessor. Reports also claim that it will be the last handset from the Note series.
