The release date of Samsung Galaxy Note 5 is months away, but that hasn't affected the flow of rumours about the upcoming flagship phablet. The latest round of speculations about the unannounced Samsung smartphone includes a series of leaked images that reveal the possible design as well as some interesting specs. At nowhereelse, a prominent French source for leaked information, new images of the case renders of the Galaxy Note 5 were leaked over the weekend and here's what we make of it.

The leaked images seem to highlight the armored case to protect the handset from regular drops and at this time, it mainly conceals the design of the Galaxy Note 5. But, the leaked images are not entirely keeping the fans in the dark. If you look closely, there is a standard S-Pen housing at the bottom along with a loudspeaker, which is quite interesting considering all previous Note devices had a rear-facing loudspeaker. Other ports include a charging slot and what appears to be a headphone jack.

By the looks of the charging port, it is hard to identify if the Samsung handset will get the rumoured USB Type-C port or go with the traditional microUSB slot. But recent rumours have indicated that the Korean tech giant will take the latest USB Type-C standard, which is also to be seen in the upcoming OnePlus 2 smartphone.

Moving towards the top, we also see the camera and LED modules are mounted, similar to Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge. Other details such as volume keys and the power button remain unchanged.

According to iDigitalTimes, the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 is expected to feature a sealed metal and glass body, just like the Galaxy S6, without any opening for a microSD card. Possible specs to be seen in the new phablet include a 5.9-inch Super AMOLED screen with a 2K or 4K resolution and Gorilla Glass 4, 16MP rear-facing camera and 5MP front snapper with f/1.8 aperture, a 4,100mAh battery and Android Lollipop OS. Samsung will use its in-house Exynos chipset based on 14nm architecture along with 3GB RAM and 32GB built-in storage.

If the rumours are true, we expect the release of Samsung Galaxy Note 5 at the IFA 2015 event in Berlin, Germany, on 4 September.
