Looks like Samsung Electronics has started preparing for the release of its upcoming next-generation device dubbed as Galaxy Note 4. The company has slashed the price of Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Note 3 Neo by up to ₹11, 000 ahead of the release of the new device.

The Galaxy Note 3, which cost ₹49,900 when it was launched in September 2013, is now available at ₹40,698 on Samsung's official eStore and ₹37,938 on online retail store, Flipkart. Galaxy Note 3 Neo that was released in March with a price tag of ₹38,990 is now priced ₹29,570 on Samsung's eStore and ₹27,249, on Flipkart.

The South Korean electronics giant has announced that the second edition of its launch event, "Samsung Unpacked 2014" will be held simultaneously in Berlin, Beijing and New York City on 3 September, a couple of days before the IFA event.

According to a report by Android Authority, a tipster claimed that the company has notified two blackout periods – from 2-5 and 15-20 September – to its employees, giving a strong hint that the much-awaited device might be released on 15 September.

Galaxy Note 4 is expected to come with many feature upgrades. According to AnTuTu benchmark listings, Samsung will launch two models of Galaxy Note 4, one to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 805, and the other with Exynos 5433 8 Core processor. The device will run on either Android 4.4.3 KitKat OS or Android Lollypop. It is reported that Google will introduce Android L on its upcoming smartphone dubbed as Nexus 6, which is releasing in October. Hence, it is not sure if the software will be seen on Note 4.

The device may wear a new look if reports are anything to go by. The Korea Times reported that Samsung will release two models of Galaxy Note 4 - one with a curved OLED display and the other with a flat OLED display. Meanwhile, Executive Vice President of Samsung's mobile business, Lee Younghee told Wall Street Journal that the company is thinking of a flexible display for the next generation device. A patent application of Samsung obtained by Galaxy Club has revealed that the S Pen, which may have updated gestures and air command, might be powered by ultrasound technology.

Galaxy Note 4 may sport a 5.7-inch super Amoled display with a 2560x1440 resolution (500+ppi) and have iris scanner to improve security. It may come packed with a 3GB LPDDR3 RAM. Samsung4Note website and AnTuTu benchmark listings suggested that the Galaxy Note 4 may have a 16MP camera, but G4Games (via ETNews) claimed that camera pixel of the new device might be reduced to 12MP but feature OIS.
