Speculations of Samsung's Galaxy Note 3 specs have gained traction in the past couple of months. Now, a new report has emerged that the next generation Note phablet would pack the Snapdragon 800 series processor.

The Korean arm of the popular technology website ZDNet has reported that the Galaxy Note 3 phablet will be powered by Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 800 series quad-core processor chipset which was unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show in January.

A few weeks ago, Galaxy Note 3 was speculated to run on Samsung's in-house built Exynos 5 octa-core processor. But new reports have indicated that Samsung may not meet the deadline to complete the chipset production and may instead use the Snapdragon 800 series processor.

However, the possibilty of the phablet using the Exynos processor still can't be ruled out so soon as Samsung had earlier launched Galaxy S4 with two CPU variants in different markets.

ZDNet has also reported that along with Galaxy Note 3, Sony's upcoming smartphone Xperia Honami I1, LG Optimus G2 and Pantech IM-A880 which are expected to get released in the second half of the year will also come packed with the Snapdragon 800 chipset.

The Snapdragon 800 series processor can run up to a max speed of 2.3GHz, almost two times faster than current high-end smartphone CPUs, and boasts of superior graphics and increased system performance.

According to another report from Korean daily ET News, an unnamed executive of Samsung Mobile Communications Division confirmed that Galaxy Note 3 is mostly likely to pack a 13.0-megapixel camera and the company is testing the Galaxy Note 3 trial variant to include 13.0-megapixel with OIS (Optical Image stabilization) and shutter functions.

The third iteration of Galaxy Note is expected to makes its global debut in September at IFA (Internationale Funkausstellung Berlin), Germany, the very same international electronics trade event in which its predecessor Galaxy Note 2 was launched a year ago.
