Samsung has finally released the much-awaited Galaxy J7 (2016) in India, more than a month after it was launched in China. The smartphone will take on mid-range devices like Motorola Moto X Play and OnePlus X.

The Galaxy J7 (2016) comes with a price tag of Rs. 15,990, while the Moto X Play is priced Rs. 16,999, and the OnePlus X costs Rs. 14,999. 

So, which device will you buy? Here is a specifications comparison of the devices to give you a better idea of which handset to buy:

Display

Both the Galaxy J7 (2016) and the Moto X Play sport a 5.5-inch display with 1,080x1,920 pixels (401 ppi pixel density). On the other hand, OnePlus X has a smaller 5-inch screen with 1,080x1920 pixels (441 ppi pixel density), which means it has a sharper display.

Processor

The Galaxy J7 (2016) is powered by an Exynos 1.6Ghz octa-core processor, while the Moto X Play has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor, and OnePlus X has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor.

Operating system

Both the Moto X Play and OnePlus X run Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. The Galaxy J7 (2016) devices released in China ran Android 5.1 Lollipop, but the versions for the U.S. and a few regions in South Korea have Android 6.0 Marshmallow, which means the software will rolled out to the device in all the markets.

Storage

The Galaxy J7 (2016) and OnePlus X come packed with 16GB internal memory (expandable up to 128GB via microSD card) and 3GB RAM, while the Moto X Play houses 16/32GB internal storage (expandable up to 128GB via microSD card) and 2GB RAM.

Camera

The Moto X Play has a 21MP main camera with features like f/2.0 aperture, 1/2.4" sensor size and 1.1 µm pixel size, and a 5MP front-snapper with f/2.2 aperture. On the other hand, the Galaxy J7 (2016) has a 13MP main camera with f/1.9 aperture, 28mm, autofocus and LED flash and a 5MP front-snapper with f/1.9 aperture. OnePlus X houses a 13MP rear camera with f/2.2 aperture, 1/3" sensor size and 1.14 µm pixel size features, and an 8MP front-snapper with f/2.4 aperture.

Battery

The Moto X Play has a non-removable 3,630mAh battery, while the battery seen in the Galaxy J7 (2016) is 3,300mAh, and 2,525 mAh in OnePlus X.

The devices score almost even in terms of display, with the Galaxy J7 (2016) and Moto X Play sporting a bigger screen, while the OnePlus X has a sharper display. The Moto X Play has an edge over the other two with better camera and battery, despite inferior RAM.
