Samsung Smartphone Market Share Rises

World smartphone leader Samsung officially launched the new Galaxy J range handset in Taiwan on Monday.

The new Galaxy J, touted as a hybrid of Samsung's 2013 flagship phones Galaxy S4 and Note 3, is said to have a mix of best features of the devices.

The smartphone was exclusively released for Japanese carrier network NTT Docomo in late October. It has now made it to the Taiwanese market for TWD (Taiwanese New Dollar) 21,900 (approximately ₹45,225 in Indian denomination).

With the launch of Galaxy J in the East Asian state of China, questions have been raised on whether Samsung has any plans of releasing Galaxy J in other markets. The company's decision to do so may cannibalise its top-end phones' sales. 

Galaxy J sports a 5.0-inch Super AMOLED full HD (1920x1080) display like Galaxy S4, but flaunts a more rectangular contour like Galaxy Note 3. The handset runs on the Android v4.3 Jelly Bean and packs 2.3GHz Snapdragon 800 series CPU, Adreno 330 graphics engine, 3GB RAM, 32GB inbuilt memory (with microSD card), 13.0-megapixel main camera and 2.1-megapixel front camera. It also boasts of 4G/LTE network support.
