Even though Samsung commands the lead in India's smartphone business, it still faces tough competition from local players thanks to their pocket friendly high-end handsets which attract a huge chunk of price-conscious buyers.

In a bid to fight back, Samsung recently launched the low-cost Galaxy Grand Quattro smartphone to take on the popular Micromax A116 Canvas HD, Karbonn S5 Titanium, Xolo Q800 and other domestic smartphones.

Galaxy Grand Quattro fails against Micromax's flagship smartphone A116 Canvas A116 HD in terms of display resolution and camera specs. But it remains to be seen if the Samsung smartphone would fare better than the second popular local smartphone - Karbonn Titanium S5.

Here is the brief comparison of main specs between Samsung Galaxy Grand Quattro and Karbonn S5 Titanium:

Display:

The new Galaxy Grand Quattro sports a 4.7-inch TFT WVGA display with 480x800p resolution and packs 199 pixels per inch of pixel density. On the other hand, popular Karbonn S5 Titanium sports a bigger 5.0-inch qHD IPS (In-Plane Switching) display with 540px960p resolution and with a little better pixel density of 220 pixels per inch.

Processor:

In terms of power, Karbonn S5 Titanium and Galaxy Grand Quattro score equal points as they both pack 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon based Quad-core processors.

Camera:

In this aspect, S5 Titanium takes the lead as it packs an impressive 8.0-megapixel rear-side camera with flash support and a 2.0-megapixel front-facing camera. Even though it is more expensive than the Karbonn smartphone, it is disappointing that Galaxy Grand Quattro sports a mere 5.0-megapixel main camera with standard auto-focus and flash support and a 0.3-megapixel VGA camera on the front side.

Mobile Operating System:

Both Galaxy Grand Quattro and S5 Titanium run on same Android mobile OS v4.1 Jelly Bean, and it is to be noted that the Samsung smartphone boasts a custom-made user-friendly UI on top of the Android OS.

According to various reports, Galaxy Grand Quattro will receive Android v4.2 Jelly Bean update in the coming months.

Both smartphones have similar storage, RAM, battery capacity and network connectivity features with negligible differences.

Price:

According to latest reports, Samsung Galaxy Grand Quattro's price is hovering around ₹16,500, whereas Karbonn S5 Titanium is priced little over ₹11,900. (Prices vary based on the markets)
