Samsung had launched the much-anticipated Galaxy Grand 2 in India earlier in the week.

India, billed as the third biggest smartphone market in the world, is primarily driven by local vendors who are churning out feature-rich handsets at throw-away prices, giving stiff challenge to MNC brands but the prolific Samsung seems to have cracked the code.

Samsung is currently sitting on top of the charts with 33-percent market share and now, with the launch of Galaxy Grand 2, the South Korean company is expected to make things tough for the popular local leader Micromax, which recently launched its flagship smartphone Canvas Turbo A250.

Here is a brief description of the stand-out features of Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 and Micromax Turbo A250:

Display and Design:

Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 is the successor of the company's bestselling mid-range smartphone Galaxy Grand, which made its India debut in January this year. It sports a bigger 5.2-inch HD (1280x720) display with pixel density close to 280 ppi (pixels per inch) and on the back side, it flaunts faux-leather stitching, like we see in the Galaxy Note 3.

On other hand, Micromax Turbo A250 is the company's first ever full HD display smartphone with 441 ppi pixel density and on the back side (in the middle), it is protected by an aluminum case.

Processor, RAM and Storage capacity:

Micromax flagship model ships with a 1.5GHz MediaTek based quad-core processor, backed by sumptuous 2GB RAM and 16GB inbuilt memory. On the downside, it does not feature a microSD card slot.

Whereas, the Galaxy Grand 2 houses a 1.2GHz Cortex A7 quad-core processor, with 1.5GB RAM and just a paltry 8GB inbuilt storage. However, the company compensates this drawback by giving a microSD card slot option (expandable up to 64GB).

Camera:

Micromax ships with a 13.0-megapixel camera with LED flash, full HD video recording ability and on the front, it flaunts a 5.0-megapixel snapper. To further enrich the photography experience, the phone boasts editing application Camerazzi, featuring object eraser, 360-degree Panorama capture and Cinemagraph

On the other hand, Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 houses an 8.0-megapixel main camera (with LED flash support and auto-focus), a 1.9-megapixel HD secondary snapper. It comes loaded with smart camera features - Best Face, Best Photo, Continuous Shot, Story Album, Sound & Shot, S Translator, S Travel and more.

In this department, both the Galaxy Grand 2 and the Canvas Turbo A250 stand even as they both run on the same Android OS platform. The only difference is that they ship with different versions. The Samsung phone ships with v4.3, whereas Micromax handset comes with v4.2.1 Jelly Bean OS out-of-the-box.

Price:

Currently, Micromax Canvas Turbo's price is hovering around ₹18,000, whereas Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 is expected to hit stores next week with a price-tag of around ₹22,900 and ₹24,900.
