South Korean electronics major Samsung is expected to release an 8.0-inch Galaxy Note tablet at the upcoming international mobile convention MWC (Mobile World Congress) at Barcelona, Spain in February.

Technology website SamMobile has reported that Samsung's new upcoming tablet Note 8.0 (product code: GT-N5100) will come in two versions. The first version GT-N5100 will have 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity, while the second version GT-5110 will be a Wi-Fi only model.

Considering the above features, Galaxy Note 8.0 is just a moderate upgrade to its predecessor Galaxy Tab 2 (7-inch variant) device, but if the tablet's price is kept marginally low it will create stiff competition among the tablet industry's top sellers like Amazon's Kindle Fire, Nexus tablets and Apple's iPad mini.

Samsung had unveiled Galaxy Tab 2 (7-inch and 10-inch variants) series at MWC last year. The company is most likely to announce Galaxy Note 8.0 at the same venue next month.
