On the occasion of the Independence Day, millions of people showcased their patriotic side by sharing their 'Salute Selfie' on social media. A Reliance Group initiative, #SaluteSelfie is a social media campaign that aims to support and express gratitude towards the Indian Armed Forces.

From commoners, B-Town celebs to sports personalities, all shared #SaluteSelfie that soon started trending on Twitter and Facebook. Celebrities including Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, M S Dhoni, Priyanka Chopra, Sania Mirza, Saina Nehwal, Jacqueline Fernandez, Shahid Kapoor and Aditi Rao Hydari posted their selfies online.

However, Shahid and Aditi's posts received a lot of flak. Both the actors had posted pictures showing them saluting with their left hand. While the "Haider" actor tweeted "#SaluteSelfie acknowledging the selfless, brave heroes #IndianArmy", Aditi wrote "Thank you for every single day that you selflessly risk your life for our peace and happiness #SaluteSelfie."

Soon, social media was abuzz with comments criticising them for insulting the India Army by saluting with their left hand. Check out some of the comments that criticised the "Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 8" judge and the gorgeous actress.

"Dude..no one salutes with the left hand..!"

"Salute always wit right hand wit left u insulting hero's"

"Madam right hand se salute karte hai..left se nhi..@aditiraohydari #saluteselfie"

On the work front, Shahid is gearing up for the release of "Shaandaar" along with Alia Bhatt, while Aditi will be seen in Amitabh Bachchan and Farhan Akhtar starrer "Wazir".
