Bollywood actor Salman Khan's upcoming film Battle of Galwan is once again facing trouble. Earlier, the title of the film was changed from Battle of Galwan to Maatrubhumi. The film is based on the India-China conflict that took place in 2020. It was initially slated to release on April 17, 2026, but has now been postponed. As per reports, the film has undergone major changes, with nearly 40% of it being reshot.

According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, the changes come amid improving relations between India and China, due to which the Ministry of Defence had reservations about the content of the Salman Khan starrer.

A source told the portal, "Earlier, the film was inspired by a real event. But as per the request of the Ministry of Defence, Salman Khan and director Apoorva Lakhia reshot the film by adding a fictional spin to the story. Accordingly, nearly 40% of the film was reshot with added romantic scenes and backstory. The makers submitted the new cut hoping to receive the NOC, but the Ministry still has apprehensions."

The source further added, "One of the requests to Salman Khan was that China should not be mentioned in the film. This was communicated to the makers in advance. The cut of Maatrubhumi, which was submitted earlier this month, has no mention of China."

So far, neither Salman Khan nor Apoorva Lakhia has confirmed these reports.

Maatrubhumi, which also stars Chitrangda Singh in a lead role, was earlier scheduled to release on April 17, 2026, but has now been postponed. There were reports suggesting a May release, but no official announcement has been made yet.

Meanwhile, Salman Khan has signed Vamshi Paidipally's next film, which also stars Nayanthara. The project is expected to go on floors this month and is reportedly eyeing an Eid release next year.
