Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, whose bachelorhood has been an ever-intriguing issue, has expressed his desire to have a girl child.

"If I ever have a child.. Insh'allah I will... I wish it's a girl. I want a girl child," Salman said, speaking on girl child and women empowerment, reported IANS.

"How can you kill a child even before its birth... It's not about awareness, it's about your mentality. If you kill the girl child, eventually there will be no mothers and sisters and guys will have no women to marry. Women play a huge role in our lives," he added, highlighting the evil of female foeticide.

"Women are ruling today... how can they be a burden. In my family I have two sisters and they take care of my parents more than any of us. I am glad I have two sisters."

Salman, who has his own social cause, Being Human Foundation, voiced his opinions during his meeting with Miss Universe 2012 Olivia Culpo in his Panvel farmhouse.

Culpo is in India as a part of Sanjana Jon's charity work in the country.

"I think that in this country (India), there's still a lot of cruelty towards women. So, the change needs to begin here. And to get to the heart of that problem, you need to start with young women," Hindustan Times quoted Culpo as saying.

"As for female foeticide, these babies aren't even born... So I think we really want to get to the root of that problem," she added, voicing her concerns.

The 21-year-old, apart from the beauty pageant title and her involvement in charity work is better known as girlfriend to Nick Jonas, member of the boy band Jonas Brothers.
