It seems veteran Bollywood scriptwriter Salim Khan was so moved by director Shoojit Sircar's latest film "Vicky Donor" that he awarded the filmmaker with one of his Filmfare awards.
It's reported that Salim Khan called both director Shoojit and screenplay writer Juhi Chaturvedi to his home and handed over one of his Filmfare awards on Wednesday.
Speaking to CNN IBN Chaturvedi said that the 74-year-old scriptwriter came to see the film and was so overwhelmed that he gave away one of his own Filmfare trophies to them (Shoojit and Chaturvedi).
"I have huge respect for Salim saab as a writer myself. I have been working for a very long time now but Vicky Donor was my first commercial film," she said.
According to reports, Salim, the father of actor Salman Khan, asked director Shoojit to hand the trophy down as a legacy to anyone whose work deserved it in the future.
Salim along with another scriptwriter Javed Akhtar wrote various hit films like "Yaadon Ki Baaraat" (1973), "Zanjeer" (1973), "Deewaar" (1975), "Sholay" (1975), "Trishul" (1978), "Kranti" (1981), "Zamaana" (1985) and "Mr India" (1987).
Since "Vicky Donor" was released on April 20, film critics and Bollywood celebrities have been pouring accolades and congratulatory messages for its out-of-the- box idea of sperm donation and water tight script.
Madhureeta Mukherjee of Times of India gave "Vicky Donor" 3.5 stars and said - "It takes a man to make a film like this, literally. Kudos to John Abraham for his brave maiden production. Thankfully, this sperm hits bullseye".
