Vijay Antony-starrer Saithan has ended its first weekend on a high note. Despite seeing the impact of demonetisation, the Tamil film has managed to do impressive business in a few centres in Tamil Nadu.

Saithan has reportedly minted Rs 10 crore in the four-day weekend in Tamil Nadu. The flick is estimated to have grossed Rs 3 crore from the Chengalpet region, Rs 1.75 crore in Coimbatore and Rs 1.44 crore in Chennai.

The trade reports say that Saithan had drawn the attention of the viewers and created a lot of positive buzz around it. This helped the movie to register good occupancy on the opening day and collected Rs 3.30 crore. In the next few days, the decent word-of-mouth helped the flick to do good business.

It has to be seen how the movie will perform in the days to come as it is crucial for its success at the box office. Unfortunately, the death of J Jayalalithaa affected the collection of the flick on Monday and Tuesday.

The movie has opened to decent response overseas. It has collected Rs 24.87 lakh in Malaysia, Rs 17.85 lakh in the US, Rs 6.04 lakh from the UK and Rs 9.38 lakh in Australia.

Saithan is a psychological thriller, written and directed by Pradeep Krishnamoorthy. Arundhati Nair plays the female lead in the flick, which revolves around a man's search for a mysterious woman.
