Saina Nehwal, the former world number one badminton player, is one of the biggest hopes for India in the women's singles of the ongoing Thailand Open. The Indian shuttler is set to face Ying Ying Lee in the second round of Thailand Open on Thursday.

Saina looked good in her opening round match against Martina Repiska, who could not withstand the brilliant play of the Indian shuttler. Saina looked fit as she stormed past her opponent in the first round. She won the match 21-5 and 21-10.

Her performance in the first round shows that she is keen in delivering the goods in the Thailand Open. Saina is carrying the India flag in the absence of PV Sindhu.

Saina will need to play some good badminton to beat Lee, who comes into this clash with a win over Asty Dwi Widyaningrum in her last match.

Ying Ying, ranked 51, will have her task cut out when she faces an experienced shuttler like Saina. This is the first head-to-head meeting between the two, and Saina will be eager to defeat her opponent in straight games.

Also in action will be B Sai Praneeth and Sourabh Verma, who will meet Iskandar Zulkarnain and Brice Leverdez, respectively, on Thursday.
