Srinagar, Nov 1 (ANI):A three-day Saffron Festival, celebrating the arrival and harvesting of the crop, commenced in India's northern Jammu and Kashmir state on Tuesday. Organised in Kashmir's Pampore district, the festival aims to highlight the struggling crop, attract more tourists to the state and provide market to the saffron farmers at a global level. With the festival trying to preserve the popularity of the worldwide popular herb, saffron farmers from the Valley are happy with the step taken by the state government. number of cultural programmes are also being organsied to highlight the struggling crop as the production has slowed down in the past few years.
