Akshay Kumar's "Rustom" is unstoppable at the domestic box office and as per early estimates, it has earned Rs. 5.77 crore nett on its second Saturday, taking its total domestic box office collection to Rs. 101.08 crore nett. This is Akshay's sixth film that has entered the Rs. 100 crore club film; with this, he has successfully levelled Shah Rukh Khan's record of delivering six films that have grossed Rs. 100 crore or more.

Taran Adarsh tweeted: #Rustom crosses ₹ 100 cr... Continues its TRIUMPHANT RUN... [Week 2] Fri 4.41 cr, Sat 5.77 cr. Total: ₹ 101.08 cr. India biz.

The domestic box office collection of "Rustom" is impressive because it faced a stiff competition from Hrithik Roshan's "Mohenjo Daro," which too released on Aug. 12. However, due to positive word-of-mouth, the Akshay-starrer picked up pace at the box office and came up as the clear winner.

"Rustom" collected an impressive Rs. 50.42 crore in the opening weekend, which included the Independence Day holiday. Although the numbers dipped during the week, it stayed unshaken at the Indian box office. "Rustom" picked up on Thursday in a few domestic circuits on account of Rakhi festival. By the end of the first week, the Tinu Suresh Desai-directorial collected Rs. 90.90 crore nett, and added Rs. 4.6 crore nett on day 8.

Meanwhile, the overseas box office collection of "Rustom's" remained equally impressive. It has minted Rs. 25.31 crore in its opening week.

"Rustom" has made and broken a few records in its glorious run at the box office. The Akshay-starrer is the fourth most profitable film of the year after "Neerja," "Sultan" and "Airlift." Also, it has taken the fourth slot in the Top 10 Highest Grossers of 2016 list and is a few crores away from beating the lifetime collections of his own film "Housefull 3."

With "Mohenjo Daro" shows being replaced with "Rustom" and "Happy Bhaag Jayegi" performing not so well at the domestic box office, Akshay's action-thriller is likely to beat the domestic box office collection (lifetime) of "Airlift," which stands at Rs. 128.1 crore nett.
