Akshay Kumar's portrayal of maligned naval officer Rustom Pavri has been loved and appreciated by the audience, which explains the 5-day domestic box office collection of "Rustom," which now stands at about Rs. 75.90 crore.
"Rustom" did fantastic business across the domestic centres on Monday, due to Independence day holiday. Industry insiders, who were surprised by its superb performance until now, were waiting to see how the movie would perform on weekdays.
Despite Tuesday being a working day, the Akshay Kumar-starrer witnessed a large number of footfalls in the theatres. When compared to its opening day collection, the movie witnessed over 40 percent drop on Tuesday. "Rustom" has collected Rs. 7.67 crore nett at the Indian box office, taking its 5-day domestic collection to Rs. 75.90 crore nett.

Even though it clashed with Hrithik Roshan's "Mohenjo Daro," "Rustom" has held its ground at the the Indian box office. "Rustom" has smashed the life-time records of "Kapoor and Sons" and "Neerja" in just five days. The movie has gone a few notches up and has bagged the sixth slot in the Top 10 Highest Grossing Movies Of 2016 list.
This positive response makes it evident that Akshay's film has been received well by the audience. From what has been reported so far, multiplex owners have decided to replace "Mohenjo Daro" shows with "Rustom" as the viewers are enjoying Akshay's film more than Hrithik's.
As per its current trends, the movie is expected to collect another Rs. 12 crore in the domestic market in the next two days. In its first week, the film would beat the life-time collection of Shah Rukh Khan's "Fan," which is Rs. 84.10 crore nett.
