Micromax launched its ultra-affordable Canvas Xpress 2 smartphone in India last month to compete with rivals such as Lenovo, Xiaomi, Motorola and others. The Rs 5,999 feature-heavy smartphone will go on sale for the first time in India tomorrow, 4 August, at 6 pm exclusively on Flipkart.

Like any other flash sale in the country, Micromax Canvas Xpress 2 also requires registration before participating in the sale. If you wish to purchase the handset tomorrow, make sure you register yourself before midnight.

Micromax did not reveal the number of units that will be on sale tomorrow but the attractive features and low price tag are bound to attract buyers. Micromax's latest offering comes as a threat to popular handsets Xiaomi Redmi 2, second generation Motorola Moto E and even the Yu Yuphoria.

Micromax Canvas Xpress 2 is powered by a 1.4GHz octa-core MediaTek processor, 1GB RAM and 8GB expandable storage. The handset features a 5-inch HD screen with 1280x720 pixel resolution and 294ppi, making it the cheapest HD smartphone with octa-core processor. The handset's screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and "Native Damage Resistance" technology, which delivers extra strength.

The Canvas Xpress 2 comes with a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture, adjustable ISO, HDR, white balance and scene mode and dual-LED flash. The handset also has a 2MP front snapper with Panorama mode.

Based on Android 4.4.2 KitKat, the affordable Canvas Xpress 2 has two SIM slots and a 2,500mAh battery that lasts 9.5 hours of talk time.

Micromax also integrated smart gesture support such as pinch in and out to launch apps, Quick Look to get all major updates from different apps in a single screen and a camera widget. Finally, Micromax promises "best in class audio quality" in the Canvas Xpress 2 with integrated Cirrus Logic Wolfson Stereo DAC.

As mentioned earlier, Micromax Canvas Xpress 2 is available exclusively on Flipkart. The first flash sale commences at 6 pm tomorrow and the registration window for the sale closes today at midnight.
