In what could come as a disappointment for those who have written the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) Non-Technical Popular Category (NTPC) exam 2016, the board is unlikely to declare the results of the examination this week as speculated earlier.

The RRB NTPC 1st stage 2016 results will be declared in November and not in October as reported earlier, according to a report by Dainik Bhaskar quoting R K Jain, the Chairman of RRB Ajmer.

Anil Kumar Saxena, Additional Director General (PR), Railways Board, had earlier said that the NTPC preliminary (1st stage) examination results 2016 would be declared in the first fortnight of October, sparking speculations that it would happen either on October 14 or 15.

With no official statement coming from the Railway Recruitment Board, candidates will like to pin on to the hope that they get the results on Saturday.

The Railway Recruitment Board conducted NTPC preliminary examination from March 3 to May 6 at 21 centres. About 93 lakh candidates applied for the exam, but only around 56 lakh appeared for it.

A total of 2,73,780 aspirants will be selected for the mains examination expected to be held sometime in November or December.

The RRB will declare the results on the Indian Railways official website and 21 official RRB zone and regional sites. Qualified candidates will write mains examination before facing skill test, aptitude test and document verification.

A total of 18,272 candidates will be selected for the posts of commercial apprentice (CA), traffic apprentice (TA), enquiry-cum-reservation clerk (ECRC), goods guard, senior clerk-cum-typist, junior accounts assistant-cum-typist (JAA), assistant station master (ASM), traffic assistant and senior time keeper in the Indian Railways.
