"Rowdy Rathore", which was released early this month, is still going strong at the box office.

Just ten days into its release, the box office collection of "Rowdy Rathore" has crossed over Rs 1 billion. The film witnessed a grand opening, earning over Rs 152.5 million, and its weekend collection across the country was a whopping Rs 480 million.

The good opening day collection has put "Rowdy Rathore" in the big league of action-oriented movies like Hrithik Roshan's "Agneepath" and Salman Khan's "Bodyguard", which had big opening last year.

Interestingly, all this box office hits are remakes.

"Rowdy Rathore" is a is a remake of Telugu hit movie "Vikramarkudu" directed by Rajamouli, starring Ravi Teja and Anushka. Later, it was dubbed in Tamil and Kannada simultaneously. "Vikramarkudu" was later remade in Tamil as "Siruthai" with Karthi in the lead role, and then in Kannada as "Veera Madakari" starring Kiccha Sudeep. Both the remake versions did well at the box office.

"Rowdy Rathore" starring Akshay and Sonakshi Sinha, is  the second directorial venture of actor-turned-director Prabhu Deva. Trade analysts were of the opinion that director Dibakar Banerjee's latest offering "Shanghai", starring Emraan Hashmi, Abhay Deol, Kalki Koechlin and Prosenjit Chatterjee, would slow down box office collection of "Rowdy Rathore" but they were wrong, as the film is still going strong at the box office.

Prabhu Deva's first directorial film in Bollywood was "Wanted", which was also a remake of Telugu movie titled "Pokiri", starring famous actor Mahesh Babu in the lead role.

You may call it a coincidence but the fact is that Prabhu bailed out troubling actors in both his films. He gave Salman a big hit through "Wanted" at a time when the actor was going through a rough patch. The film ended Salman's two unsuccessful years. "Rowdy Rathore" also gave a big break to Akshay as far as action movie is concerned. The actor known for his action films was branded a comedian after doing a series of comedy films. "Rowdy Rathore" has put him back on the pedestol of action movies and his fans got the chance to see their hero bashing up opponents.
