Robert Pattinson is finally opening up about his romance with Kristen Stewart and the affair that led to the demise of their relationship in an exclusive interview with Esquire UK, which will be out in September.

The Pattinson-Stewart relationship has provided much fodder for gossip, and it only increased when the pair split up following Stewart cheating on him with director Rupert Sanders.

"Sh*t happens, you know?" Pattinson said about the affair, according to Gossipcop. "It's just young people… it's normal! And honestly, who gives a sh*t?"

However, dealing with the press wasn't easy. "The hardest part was talking about it afterwards. Because when you talk about other people, it affects them in ways you can't predict."

"It's like that scene in Doubt, (where Philip Seymour Hoffman is) talking about how to take back gossip?" he continues. "They throw all those feathers from a pillow into the sky and you've got to go and collect all the feathers."

Pattinson and Stewart met on the sets of the "Twilight" series in 2008 and it is believed that they started dating soon after. But it was only in 2011 that she started referring to the British actor as her boyfriend.

But a year later, Us Weekly came out with photographic evidence of Stewart making out with "Snow White and the Huntsman" director, Sanders, who was married to model Liberty Ross at the time.

Although both Pattinson and Stewart tried to make their relationship work post the scandal, they soon drifted apart, and Pattinson has been linked to a number of people, including Katy Perry, Riley Keough and Imogen Ker.

However, Pattinson has never confessed to a romance with these women, and he hinted that the paparazzi was responsible for a lot of these romance rumors.

He told Esquire UK that they "photographed anyone who came up to the gate, anyone who rang the bell, and they followed any car that came in and out."

"I used to dress up my assistant as me, and get him to drive off with like five cars following him around for hours," he admitted, adding that he does not understand the media's obsession with him.

Pattinson continued: "I think it goes through periods where you're assigned 'this is the guy to follow.' But whenever I see a bunch of paparazzi hanging out, I always think, 'Oh God, what have they found out!'"
