The Kardashian family is famous for allowing fans a key-hole perspective into their lives. However, reports suggest that the reality show could face the axe owing to dismal ratings and a low interest among the audience.

A recent OK! Magazine report claimed that fans of the reality TV series are bored of the same plot lines. The print version of the outlet quoted a source as saying, "It appears people are finally sick of this family being shoved in their faces."

To be sure, season 12 of Keeping up with the Kardashians received low viewer ratings when it aired. The premiere instalment roped in only 2.2 million viewers but this number dwindled as the season progressed. In comparison, the show's spin-off series, Rob & Chyna's premiere was watched by 2.7 million viewers.

According to Deadline, episode 1 of Rob Kardashian and Blac Chyna's reality TV series was the most watched unscripted show on cable TV in 2016.

Even as reports speculated that Keeping up with the Kardashians could end, a Gossip Cop article stated that the show is most likely to go on. A source told the outlet that the show will continue for the foreseeable future. This is partly due to a contract signed between E! and the Kardashian/Jenner family.

In 2015, the Kardashians signed a $100 million deal to remain with the network for the next four years. Kris Jenner secured the deal for herself and daughters Khloe, Kim, Kourtney, Kylie and Kendall. However, Kris's former partner Caitlyn wasn't part of the contract.

So far, the network has confirmed that Keeping up with the Kardashians is set to return on October 23 with season 13. And E! will continue to air new seasons of the reality TV show for the next few years, until the contract expires.
