Latehar, Nov 03 (ANI): RJD candidate urged people
to vote during state polls in Jharkhand as Maoists
have called for boycott of elections. The
five-phased state assembly polls in Jharkhand will
begin from November 25 and end on December 20. The
results would be announced on December 23. In
Manika constituency of Jharkhand's Latehar
district, rebels from Communist Party of India
(Maoist) painted long declarations of boycotting
state polls on walls of schools and other
buildings in the marketplace. They appealed the
voters not to vote and called for total boycott.
This has left political parties and their
candidates in a quandary, as they too appealed to
the public to support them. The rebels have
operated for decades across a wide swath of
central and eastern India, and grew in strength
during recent times in areas where poor, tribal
villagers came into conflict with mining companies
seeking resources for industrialization.
