New Delhi, Sep 10 (ANI): Samajwadi Party leader Naresh Agarwal, on Wednesday said that rescue operations in flood-hit Jammu and Kashmir may bridge the gap between army and people. Rising death toll in Kashmir and worst floods in 60 years submerged villages and destroyed crops as the number of dead hit 420 and thousands remained trapped on rooftops. The Indian air force, army and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) are carrying out extensive rescue operations in the state. Soldiers rescued families using boats or airlifted them from rooftops by helicopter after the river Jhelum burst its banks in Srinagar, but many more remained stranded. Meanwhile, Congress leader Manish Tewari, said the situation was grave and both, central and state, governments should jointly help victims.
