French auto maker Renault's entry level small car 'Kwid' made its grand global debut on 20 May in Chennai, India.
To be priced in the range of ₹3 lakh to ₹4 lakh, the new Kwid from the house of Renault will square off with segment leaders Maruti Alto and Hyundai Eon. The launch of the new Kwid will take place during the festive season in India.
Built on an all-new small platform – the CMF-A – Renault's Kwid will be powered by small 800cc engine and will come equipped with upmarket interiors and features. The new compact hatch, which is designed more like a crossover, gets 98 percent localisation and the company expects the car to be a game changer in the country.
To be produced at the Renault Nissan India plant in Oragadam, Chennai, the new Kwid will also be offered in markets outside India. The car will include features such as optional air bags, Media Nav multimedia and navigation system with Bluetooth connectivity.
"Kwid will be a game changer in Indian automotive and global automotive markets,"said Chairman and CEO of Renault Group Carlos Ghosn, during the unveiling of the new Kwid.
