If emerging reports are to be believed, French auto-maker Renault is gearing up to roll out new variants of its MPV Lodgy in India to boost the sales of the model. Renault is said to be working on an automated manual transmission (AMT) and base variants for the Lodgy.

Car and Bike reports that Renault Lodgy will soon get new variants including an AMT in the domestic market. Renault Lodgy, the MPV, which made its market entry in April last year, never really managed to impress the buyers in the country. Renault will be hopeful of improving the sales with these new variants.

According to the report, the Lodgy is likely to get the same Easy-R AMT system which was introduced with the new Duster. Sourced from ZF, the AMT in the Lodgy will also be six-speed like in the Duster. The AMT version of the Lodgy is likely to be launched in the country around July this year and is expected to get a price tag premium at Rs 50,000 on the current model. In the AMT avatar, the Lodgy is likely to get the same body kit of the current model, but with minor tweaks. The company is also said to be working on the lower variants of the Lodgy.

The current Lodgy model in the market is offered only with a diesel engine and apparently Renault is also evaluating petrol engine options for the model.
