Here is some good news for those who have been waiting to grasp the steering wheels of the Renault Kwid, the new hatchback is set to hit the Indian shores soon. Emerging reports on the web suggest that the dealers of the French automaker Renault across the country have started accepting bookings for the soon-to-be-launched Kwid hatchback.
The auto buffs at Oncars.in further claim that besides the bookings, open in the country with a down payment of Rs 25,000, the token amount paid for the Kwid bookings is refundable.
Kwid hatchback, which recently premiered at Renault's TVC with the company's new brand ambassador -- actor Ranbir Kapoor, could take to the Indian roads as early as September this year.
Unveiled in May, Kwid hatchback is expected to be priced between Rs 3 lakh and Rs 4 lakh. Renault's small car will be seeking to challenge the dominance of Maruti Alto and Hyundai Eon in the Indian small car market.
Built on Renault-Nissan's CMF-A modular platform, Kwid hatchback is likely to include the small car segment's first ever touchscreen Media-Nav Navigation System with a seven-inch display, digital instrument console, alloy wheels, chrome door handles, chrome touched tail lights, roof rails and side body cladding.
The power will stem from its 800 cc three-cylinder petrol mills, which is expected to churn out 57bhp power and the transmission will be taken care of by either a five-speed gearbox or AMT.
Renault Kwid, the small car with SUV-like design, is expected to deliver good fuel efficiency and has 180mm of ground clearance.
