We already know Reliance has distributed the Lyf series 4G phones to its employees and is expected to officially launch it in India.
Now, The Quint has posted an exclusive hands-on video online disclosing key features of the device and also its official commercial name.
In the 51-second un-boxing video, it is disclosed that the Reliance phone will be called LYF Earth 1, and come with 5.5-inch full-HD AMOLED display having a 5MP snapper on the right top corner.
Under the hood, it is said to come packed with 32GB inbuilt storage, 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 Octa-core SoC (System-on-Chip) and a massive 3,500mAh Li-Po battery.
A key aspect of the upcoming Reliance phone is its primary camera. It boasts a dual camera — a 13MP main snapper with a 2MP secondary camera having LED flash placed in between them.
For those unaware, dual-camera phones are not new in the smartphone industry. Flagship HTC One M8 was the first Tier-1 branded handset to boast this feature.
How dual cameras work?
Usually, an additional camera sensor beside the main camera module is utilised to capture detailed information of a scene, enabling users to re-focus objects on the snapshots without any loss of quality via an editing tool.
The video clip also reveals Lyf Earth 1 users will be able to enjoy high-definition voice calls via VoLTE (Voice-over-LTE) and VoWiFi (Voice-over-WiFi), which are currently available only in developed markets in the Americas, Europe and some select regions.
There is no word on when Reliance will unveil the Lyf Earth 1, but once released, it will certainly give stiff challenge to established players such as Lenovo (K4 Note), Motorola (Moto G Turbo & Moto X Play), Xiaomi (Redmi Note 3 with Snapdragon 650 CPU), CoolPad (Note 3), Micromax (Canvas Sliver 5) and OnePlus X.
