All eyes have been set on Reliance Jio's commercial rollout for months now. The company's chairman Mukesh Ambani finally revealed all the crucial details about the Jio network, including its tariffs, upcoming smartphones and the most important Jio Preview Offer.

During the annual general meeting speech on Thursday, Ambani confirmed that all smartphones will be eligible for free unlimited 4G data starting Sept. 5 till the end of this year. In addition, users will be getting unlimited calls free to any network till Dec. 31, 2016.

Ambani also cleared the air around the Jio tariffs, which had created a lot of curiosity among mobile users. Comparing internet data to oxygen of the modern world, Ambani said that mobile internet has to be made affordable and users must be charged either for voice or data, not both.

Reliance Jio data services will be the cheapest, costing Rs. 50 per GB and the data rates will be lower with higher consumption. The data charges could go down to Rs. 25 per GB with greater usage. Comparatively, the industry standard for 1GB high-speed 4G/3G data per month costs around Rs. 250.

Another interesting announcement made by Ambani during the annual general meeting is that the voice calls and roaming will remain free for Jio users.

Pay for only one service - either voice or data, not both. World over, operators charge only for data, voice and messaging are essentially free. All voice calls for Jio customers will be absolutely free," Ambani said.

Take a look at all the Jio 4G tariffs, which start at Rs. 149 and go as high as Rs. 4,999 per month.

Students availing Reliance Jio connections will get an additional 25 percent extra data on the same tariffs. Along with all the data and voice call benefits, Jio subscribers will also get access to the complete Jio suite, including JioOnDemand, JioPlay and JioBeats, until December 2017.
