Atharvaa's latest movie "Kanithan" is all set to be remade in Telugu. The Tollywood version will feature Ravi Teja. TN Santhosh, who helmed the original version, will be directing this film.

The director has confirmed the news to the Times of India. TN Santhosh has said that he had a discussion with Ravi Teja and the actor has agreed to star in the Telugu version of "Kanithan."

Ravi Teja already has two more films in his kitty apart from "Kanithan" remake. But he will be working on TN Santhosh's film before moving on to other flicks. "If everything goes well, the film will go on the floors soon. The rest of the cast will now be decided. The remake will be trimmed, but made on a bigger scale. There will be slight changes to suit the nativity of the audiences in Andhra," the director told the daily.

Initially, TN Santhosh wanted to remake the movie with Allu Arjun in the lead role. But the actor could not take up the film due to his other projects.

The buzz says that "Kanithan" will also be remade in Hindi. More details about the flick are expected to be out shortly.

"Kanithan" was released last Friday, Feb. 26, and it had opened to mixed reviews. Kalaipuli S Dhanu has produced the flick, which has Catherine Tresa playing the female lead role. Tarun Arora, K Bhagyaraj, Manobala, Aadukalam Naren and many others are in the cast.

In the first weekend, "Kanithan" raked in somewhere between Rs 2.75-3 crore in Tamil Nadu. The movie is holding well in the second weekend despite a few films hit the screens this week.

"Kanithan" revolves around a fake educational certificate scam. The subject of the story and the performance of Atharvaa have been appreciated by the viewers.
