Puri, June 30 (ANI): Over 10 lakh devotees converged in Odisha to participate in annual chariot festival or Rath Yatra in Puri city and pulled chariots of Hindu Lord Jagannath. Drenched in religious fervour, devotees were seen singing hymns, beating drums and playing cymbals to mark the festival. The annual religious procession commemorates a journey by Lord Jagannath, his brother Balabhadra and sister Subhadra, in specially made chariots. Devotees from various parts of the world joined devotees and participated in the magnificent festivities. The annual religious procession commemorates the legendary journey of Lord Jagannath to his birthplace in the city of Mathura in Uttar Pradesh and is considered one of the most auspicious Hindu festivals in India.
