Upcoming Malayalam movie "Rasam" starring Mohanlal and Indrajith in the lead is set to hit theatres on 26 January. The movie, mostly shot at various locations in Dubai and Kerala, is directed by National Award-winning filmmaker T. Rajeevnath.

The film, true to its name, has food as its theme and revolves around things and places associated with food. It is expected to be a foodie's delight. Mohanlal plays the role of himself in the movie.

"The story revolves around food, tastes, restaurants, catering services and has also been shot in Dubai and Kerala. Mohanlal plays the role of superstar Mohanlal himself," said Rajeevnath, who is also the chairman of the Kerala State Chalachithra Academy.

Malayalam cinema had previously produced movies like 'Salt and Pepper" and "Kammath & Kammath" which talked about food and caterers.

In "Rasam", Indrajith plays Balu, a restaurant owner and a MTech graduate. His father Guruvayoor Thirumeni (Nedumudi Venu), is a famous Namboothiri cook and is known for the delicacies he prepares; he is invited to Dubai to cook for the marriage of a businessman RJ Menon's daugther, played by debutant Varuna Shetty.

Indrajith joins his father as chef for the wedding and what follows is a series of interesting incidents.

Indrajith and Mohanlal had earlier worked together for movies like "Baba Kalyani", "Chotta Mumbai", "Flash" and "Twenty:20".

The story and screenplay is written by Sudeep Kumar and dialogues are written by Nedumudi Venu.

The film has a huge star cast which includes Devan, Jagadhish, Nandu, Mythili, Ambika Mohan, Rajesh Rajan, Nihal Pillai, Dileep Shankar, Albert Alex and Bindu K Menon.

"Rasam" has three songs which are composed by Job Kurian and penned by Kavalam Naraya Panicker Cinematography is handled by Krish Kamal and editing is by Babu Rathnam.
