Rani Mukerji is set to make a comeback to the silver screen after a long hiatus. The gorgeous actress, who is busy raising her 10-month old daughter Adira, has signed an untitled film to be directed by Siddharth P Malhotra.

The film will also mark Rani's return after Mardani. The actress will play the central role in the movie, which will be produced by her husband Aditya Chopra.

"Rani plays the central lead in Siddharth's film. Like Mardani, this one too will deal with a strong social issue. He narrated the script to Adi first and then Rani. They both loved it and Adi will produce the film. Siddharth, Adi and Rani have been meeting and working out the project regarding dates and other stuff," a source told DNA.

Apparently, Rani was apprehensive about taking up the project as she is completely immersed in taking care of her child. However, when Siddharth narrated the script to Aditya, he believed that Rani was perfect for the role. Once things are finalised, the film, which will deal with a social issue, will roll out in mid next year.

However, the Veer-Zara actress' spokesperson said that Rani is currently busy reading scripts and has not locked any film as of now. "Rani will definitely be doing a film next year, but she is currently in the process of reading scripts. As soon as she decides, we will be able to announce it," the spokesperson said.
