The director of "Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani" (YJHD), Ayan Mukherji, is all praise for ex-flames Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone for their professionalism despite their past.

Ayan Mukherji claimed that the ex-lovers were comfortable working with each.

"Their dating earlier was not a big deal, they were a couple, there were a lot of controversies later like the Koffee with Karan episode and etc. But today there is nothing like that... they are now good friends and co-stars," Ayan told PTI.

"They are very comfortable with each other. It makes me feel good about their attitude towards work," he added.

Ranbir and Deepika started dating each other after they shared screen space in "Bachna Ae Haseeno" in 2008 but broke up later. It was rumoured that Deepika started dating Siddharth Mallya while Ranbir has been linked Katrina Kaif.

However, Ayan managed to rope in both Ranbir and Deepika for "YJHD" and the promos of the movie showed the actors sharing a great chemistry.

The promo of the movie has already created hype as Deepika is seen saying "Mujhe Tumse Pyar Ho Jayega... Phir Se" (I will fall in love with you... again) - to Ranbir.

"A lot has been said about Deepika's line in the promo. There is excitement among the audience and I am happy about it. It was part of the story when I wrote that line. It comes as the part of the scene, it is very natural. There are many points in the film where people will feel they would have been good together," he said.

Affirming that Ranbir and Deepika were the right choice for the movie, Ayan said, "We took time as we wanted to be 100 per cent sure about the casting. I feel both were right choices and I am happy they agreed to do the film."

"Yeh Jawaani Hai Dewaani" is produced by Karan Johar and is slated for release on 31 May.
