Rana Daggubati was at the peak of his career when a sudden health scare made him take a break from films. The 'Baahubali' actor faced major health scare and there was a 70 per cent chance of stroke or haemorrhage and a 30 per cent chance of death. He was facing kidney failure and also serious heart complications.

In a conversation with Rhea Chakraborty, Rana has now opened up about the phase where all he did was to just survive. Rana said that his diagnosis came as a shock to him as no one prepares oneself for such sudden health crisis. He shifted base to US for several months. He had to change his lifestyle to adapt to pre surgery, during surgery and post-surgery care. Rana recalled how his life was all about eating saltless food and making visits to the hospital during that time.

Being alone changed his perspective from vanity to survival. "So, I had to do a bunch of things, whether it was my food or the process of surgery, post surgery, post care. I knew it was a long cycle. Then I flew to the US and stayed for a while. It was the first time I had been by myself in a really long time. I had family around for a while, and then I stayed by myself. So, you start thinking so much in terms of your purpose," the 'Kaantha' actor told Rhea on her podcast.

Daggubati added that he was roped in to play larger-than-life characters, bulky avatars but he had to back out due to his changed physical frame. "I had a bunch of films I was supposed to do. There was a story of a big-a** wrestler and those kinds of films. So, I don't look like any of those guys. I was returning advances back and all that was going on," he revealed.

Post his recovery, Rana got married and then started focusing more on the films that could make an impact rather than just those that would ensure box office hits.
