Ram Gopal Varma has heaped praises on Sudeep and his latest movie "Kotigobba 2." The filmmaker on Twitter declared that Kiccha is a bigger star than Rajinikanth and late Vishnuvardhan.
The director tweeted, "@KicchaSudeep I just saw kotigobba 2 and I honestly think u shud change ur name from Kiccha Sudeepa to Rajni Sudeepa, [sic]". Comparing Sudeep with Rajinikanth, he posted, "@KicchaSudeep But Rajni can do just only one type whereas u proved ur better versatality from Autograph to Eega to Kotigobba 2 to many more. [sic]"
In his next post, Varma posted, "@KicchaSudeep Saw Kotigobba..compared to ur performance in Kotigobba 2 Vishnuvardhan looks amateur n if his fans disagree they also amateur. [sic]" Before concluding, he wrote, "@KicchaSudeep U can anyday do a Robot in ur sleep but Rajnikant can't do a Eega even in his dream..Respect."
Ram Gopal Varma watched "Kotigobba 2" at a special screening on Tuesday, Aug. 16. However, Sudeep was uncomfortable with the filmmaker's comments and he politely responded, "thanks fr th appreciation sir....but I'm nowhere close nor a comparison to th two legends,,Vishnusir & RajiniSir.. [sic]."
Varma's comparison of Sudeep with the two legends did not go down well with Rajinikanth and Vishnuvardhan fans, who blasted the filmmaker for posting such views on Twitter. It is not the first time that the filmmaker has come under severe attack from Rajini fans. A few months ago, he had taken potshot at Rajinikanth while praising Amitabh Bachchan's "Te3n." Later, Rajini's son-in-law Dhanush had given a fitting reply on Twitter.
Coming to "Kotigobba 2," the movie, which was released on Aug. 12, has come out with flying colours at the box office. In Karnataka, the film has minted Rs. 22 crore in four days. But its Tamil version "Mudinja Ivana Pudi" has not lived up to the expectations.
The movie directed by KS Ravikumar has Nithya Menen in the female lead role.
