Rajinikanth in Kabali
Kalaippuli S Dhanu says the teaser of Rajinikanth Fans Page

Kalaipuli S Dhanu has started selling the theatrical rights of Rajinikanth's "Kabali" and unsurprisingly, it has met with thunderous response from the buyers. Indeed, the overseas distribution rights are selling like hotcakes.

The producer is selling the overseas rights to multiple parties rather than selling it to a single party, thereby breaking the usual practice. Kalaipuli S Dhanu has sold the US region rights for Rs 8.5 crore to Cine Galaxy, tweets Sreedhar Pillai. This is a big market for the superstar's films and the makers have received a fancy amount for the rights.

Sreedhar Pillai further added, "Moniker "Superstar" 2 Rajini is selling overseas rights 2 individual distributors in different countries #Kabali USA rights have gone. #Kabali US rights - #CineGalaxy for 8.5 Cr, Australia rights to Sriram Rs 1.65 Cr and most lucrative #Malaysia Malik Streams Corporation."

The buzz says that there is also good demand for the domestic theatrical rights. But, the makers are yet to sell the rights and are waiting for the appropriate time to start the business.

The superstar's last two films like "Kochadaiiyaan" and "Lingaa" had bombed at the box office. But this seems to be having no impact on "Kabali".

The upcoming Tamil movie is written and directed by Pa Ranjith. Although it has been made by a young filmmaker, the star power of Rajinikanth is doing the magic as always.

In "Kabali", Rajinikanth will be seen as an ageing gangster from Tamil Nadu who controls the underworld from Malaysia. Radhika Apte plays the female lead in the flick, which will hit the screens in May 2016. Originally, the plan was to release for Tamil New Year in April. But, the producer's other film "Theri", starring Vijay, changed the release plans for the Rajinikanth starrer.

Currently, the shooting of "Kabali" is progressing swiftly and it is expected to be completed by the end of February.
