'Kabali' is the title of Rajinikanth's next movie and director Pa Ranjith has confirmed the same.

On Sunday, 16 August, we had reported that there were a lot of speculations that the movie name was "Kabali". Now, Pa Ranjith on Twitter has announced by posting, ""கபாலி"( K A B A L I ).....magizhchi!!!!" 

Rajinikanth completes 40 years in film industry on Monday, 17 August. To make it a special day, the director has revealed the name. On the other end, the fans are celebrating the occasion by recalling their memories if watching the superstars' films on Twitter and created a trend with the hashtag - #40YearsOfSuperstarRajinikanth. 

Coming to the project. the reports say that makers zeroed in on "Kabali" after giving thought to his character in the film, in which he will reportedly play the role of a large-hearted gangster.

It is speculated that "Kabali" is inspired by a real-life don based in Mylapore, Chennai. This is not the first time when Rajinikanth will be donning the role of a gangster. In many films, he has played the role of a don, the most famous being in the blockbuster "Baasha".

Meanwhile, the upcoming movie, which will be directed by young filmmaker Pa. Ranjith, was supposed to take off on 2 August but has got delayed.  The film's heroine, Radhika Apte, claimed that the film would possibly kick off by the end of this month. But now it is being said that the muhurat has been postponed to next month.

The makers have decided to have a formal function on 17 September to coincide with Ganesh Chathurthi. The regular shooting will begin soon after that. 

The major part of the shooting will be held in Malaysia. The film has Radhika Apte, Dhansika, Kalairasan and Dinesh in the cast. Santhosh Narayanan is composing music and Murali will handle cinematography. Praveen KL will be editing the flick.

It won't be a regular masala movie that Rajinikanth is famous for. The untitled movie will be presented in Pa Ranjith's style and will be a kind of an image makeover for the Tamil superstar.
