Rajinikanth seems to have turned down the offer to star in the remake of Kannada movie "Shivalinga." Now, director P Vasu has offered the movie to Raghava Lawrence and Anushka Shetty.

The director has approached Raghava Lawrence and Anushka Shetty to play the lead roles, Behindwoods reported. But nothing is confirmed yet and the buzz is that the project might take time to start as the actors are busy with their respective films.

Raghava Lawrence and Anushka Shetty have tasted success in the horror genre before. While the actor had impressed the audience with the "Kanchana" series, the actress delivered one of her biggest hits in the form of "Arundhathi." As a result, it is interesting to see this pair on-screen.

More details on the remake of "Shivalinga" are expected to be out in the coming days.

Recently, there were reports that P Vasu had approached Rajinikanth, who watched "Shivalinga" at a private screening in Chennai. After watching the Kannada movie, the superstar appreciated the content, and the performances of Shivaraj Kumar, Vedhika aka Vedhicka and P Vasu's son Shakthi Vasudevan.

It was said that Rajinikanth had expressed interest in remaking it and the project would be a sequel to their blockbuster "Chandramukhi."

P Vasu's "Shivalinga" tells the story of a CID officer played by Shivanna, unravelling a murder mystery. The hero's work and personal lives get embroiled even as he tries to solve the case and this is the interesting part of the story.

The Kannada movie was released in February and it has turned out to be one of the biggest hits at the Sandalwood box office in recent years.
