U Mumba will lock horns with Dabang Delhi in the Pro Kabaddi League at the Kanteerava Indoor Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday.
U Mumba at present are second and Dabang Delhi sixth. The competition for play-off spots is becoming more intense with each passing day especially for the mid-table teams such as Dabang Delhi.
At this stage the boys from Delhi need to win continuously to remain in contention for a play-off spot. U Mumba on the other hand, in second place, are in a more comfortable position. They, however, have not won their last four games with three of them being losses. This would be starting to worry them.
The last time U Mumba and Dabang Delhi met the boys from Delhi came out triumphant 36 -27. Dabang Delhi at this stage would love a repeat of that. Dabang Delhi would be looking to exploit U Mumba's poor form in the last few games. Dabang Delhi would take heart from their earlier defeat of U Mumba.
The boys from Delhi have been dogged by inconsistency in this tournament. This showed them up in their last match against the Jaipur Pink Panthers. They ended up being trumped in this game 31 to 41.
In the game against the Pink Panthers they started strongly in the first half but soon fell away. The second half saw the Pink Panthers take the boys from Delhi apart. The fact that their raiders could not break through the Jaipur defense will be slightly worrying for the Delhi boys. The raiders would be hoping this does not occur against the boys from Mumbai.
U Mumba before the slide in the last four games dominated the other teams in most of the games they played. Their policy had been to go hard at the opponents and score as much they can so that the opposition cannot recover. In the last few games, however, U Mumba have been at the receiving end.
For U Mumba there were positives however in their previous encounter against Jaipur Pink Panthers. At one point they were well behind trailing by 10 points. From here the attack shone as they hit back repeatedly. In the end the boys from Mumbai came away with a tie. U Mumba would be looking to go one better this time.
