Patna Pirates clash against the Bengal Warriors in the Pro Kabaddi League at the Rajiv Gandhi Port Stadium in Vizag on Monday.
The Pirates will take the momentum of their thumping victory against Jaipur Pink Panthers on Sunday, into this encounter. The boys from Patna were nothing short of magnificent against the Pink Panthers as they notched up their second win in a row. At present in third place in the league, a win against the Warriors would see the Pirates move into second place and Jaipur drop down to third. This would no doubt drive the Pirates to pick up a victory.
The Pirates, going into the game against the Bengal Warriors, are the clear favourites.The Bengal side are woefully out of form and are in last place. At this juncture a play-off spot looks very distant.
In their last game against the Pink Panthers they were simply ripped apart. They did not start well as they conceded a ten-point lead by the 14 minute. To make matters worse, the attack wasn't in the best of form. In the second half, the Warriors put in a much improved showing but they were no match for a strong outfit like the Jaipur Pink Panthers.
The Warriors defence at this point is as leaky as can be and needs desperate shoring up. They have a hard match ahead of them especially as the Pirates have the likes of Rakesh Kumar and Ravi Dalal. They would have to be on their toes at all times. In attack they have a few problems here and there as they rely too much on Korean Jang Kun Lee. The Korean has performed well in this tournament, but the others have to step up to the plate as well.
The Kumar-led Patna Pirates, after their huge victory against the Pink Panthers are a major force to reckon with. The attack looks particularly dangerous and against the Panthers outfit they scored at will. Furthermore they have sounded a warning to other sides that they mean business.
