ABC Family's "Pretty Little Liars" ended the first half of season 6 by solving a lot of mysteries that have been plaguing the Liars – Aria, Emily, Spencer and Hanna – since season 1.

However, it left a lot of questioned unanswered, such as the mystery behind Mrs DiLaurentis' murder and why Sara helped Charlotte in her game as the elusive A.

In the final moments of the mid-season finale episode entitled "Game Over, Charles", the show took a leap of five years and showed the Liars returning to Rosewood. And from the look of things, they are in the middle of yet another mystery.

At present, not much is known about the identity of the new villain other than it's a "he." The girls have come back to Rosewood to warn Alison about the new villain.

"There's a new mystery and a new story that starts up when we come back in the next episode, and that story will most likely end at the end of season seven," executive producer Marlene King told The Hollywood Reporter, adding that the series will probably come to an end in season 7.

"So it's a great final, gigantic mystery twist — I think it's the biggest we've ever had. And that feels like season seven is probably a good time to end that story. But we'll see — we have a little time to play with it. But we're definitely moving in that direction," said King.

As for what the girls will be doing post the time-jump, set photos and a mini trailer have revealed that Alison is married and is now a school teacher. Hanna, too, seems to be putting her bachelorette days behind her, as one picture shows her flaunting her new engagement ring.

Spencer seems to have entered politics, and Emily and Toby have become best friends.

A preview of the second half of the season showed Emily complaining to Toby about her rather unpleasant college experience.

As for Aria and Ezra, they are definitely hanging out, but it's not immediately known if they are dating.

Season 6B of "Pretty Little Liars" will return to ABC Family in January.
