Fans of "Pretty Little Liars" who have been waiting for answers for the past five seasons will get some this summer, as the promo for the latest season has popularised the hashtag "Summer of Answers."

The promo hints that season 6 is going to be much darker than the previous seasons, as Charles, the villain who is believed to be Jason's twin, will punish the Liars for trying to escape from his dollhouse.

The Liars -- Aria (Lucy Hale), Spencer (Troian Bellisario), Emily (Shay Mitchell), Hanna (Ashley Benson) and Mona (Janel Parrish) – are all still locked up. But it looks like Mona's decision to help the others will have serious repercussions. One scene shows Mona rocking back and forth alone in a cell, and she believes Charles has something severe planned for her.

Even though Mona is locked away, she has managed to communicate with the others, and one message from her reads: "He's going to kill me – M."

As fans would recollect, season 5 ended with the revelation that Mona was still alive. However, she has been in Charles' captivity since the day she went missing, and he has been trying to brainwash her into thinking that she was Alison. The Liars soon found out that Mona was just pretending to be Alison to please Charles and gain his trust.

Elaborating on what's next for her character, actress Janel Parrish earlier revealed that Charles will be meting out serious punishments.

"We are going to be punished for our actions for trying to escape from Charles and once we do escape, there are going to be some serious repercussions and scares, emotional as well as physical," she told E!Online.

"Pretty Little Liars" Season 6 premieres on ABC Family on 2 June at 8 p.m. EDT.
