"Power***" is heading for the highest first week collection ever for a Kannada film.

The film, starring Puneet Rajkumar and Trisha in the lead is breaking the records of Kannada cinema.

"Power***", which opened in more than 275 centres in Karnataka has collected around ₹2.15 crore on its opening day. According to Andra Box office.com, the film had collected around ₹7.5 crore in four days.

With the kind of publicity and promotions the film is getting now, it is expected to gross in more during the coming days. The massive fan following of Puneet is also helping the film in its theatrical run. The film was opened in 116 screens in Bangalore alone.

Meanwhile, the heroine is all excited about the film's success. The actress is promoting her debut Kannada film through social media networks. She also thanked everyone for supporting the movie.

"Thank u all for the overwhelming response n feedback", tweeted Trisha.

"Power***" is the remake of the Telugu film "Dookudu", which had Mahesh Babu and Samantha in the lead.

The Telugu version released in 2011 was a blockbuster hit with a collection that crossed over ₹100 crores. The film had also won innumerable awards, including seven Nandi Awards, six Filmfare Awards and eight South Indian International Film Awards.

Keeping the popularity of the film in mind, "Dookudu" was dubbed as "Athiradi Vettai" in Tamil, "Choodan" in Malayalam and "The Real Tiger" in Hindi.

"Power***" is an action comedy entertainer where Puneet plays the role of an IPS officer, Bharath. Trisha is seen as Prasanthi, who is the love interest of Bharath. Well-known south Indian actor Prabhu plays as a politician Krishna Murthy, who is Bharath's father. Kelly Dorjee is seen as an underworld don in the film.

The film also has Thilak Shekar, Jai Jagadish, Shobaraj and Harish Raj in important roles.

The film is produced by Ram Achata Gopichand Achanta as well as Anil Sunkara of 14 Reels Entertainment, who had earlier produced "Dookudu."
