Kathua, Sep 03 (ANI): Police beefed up security to ensure safe and smooth conducting of assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir, said a senior official on Wednesday. While inaugurating a hostel in Kathua district, Director General of Police, Jammu and Kashmir, Rajendra Kumar said with strict vigil of security forces, several elections in the past have taken place peacefully. He added that the upcoming assembly elections will be smooth like the parliamentary elections early this year. He also ensured that security forces are equipped enough to check infiltration as well as retaliate to any ceasefire violations along the international border. He added that that the Election Commission was yet to conduct its surveillance in the region.
