New Delhi, May 27 (ANI): A day after he took oath as the 15th prime minister of India, Narendra Modi held "courtesy meetings" with leaders of SAARC countries. Modi greeted Afghan President Hamid Karzai, who arrived first at the Hyderabad House where the two leaders shook hands and exchanged pleasantries. Later in the day, Modi met Maldives President Abdulla Yameen, Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa, Bhutan PM Tshering Tobgay, Mauritius Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam and Nepal PM Sushil Koirala. His most significant meeting was with Pakistani PM Nawaz Sharif. The series of meetings will end with Modi receiving Bangladesh Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury. After their courtesy calls, the Heads of Government of SAARC countries will also meet President Pranab Mukherjee.
