Japanese electronics major Sony has officially announced the launch dates for its flagship gaming console PlayStation 4 in select major markets.

The eight-generation gaming console PS4 will hit North American markets (USA and Canada) on 15 November and a couple of weeks later (to be precise on 29 November) in Europe and Latin American. PS4 will be released in 33 countries in total. There are still no details of PS4's availability in India, but reports said it may makes its debut in the sub-continent probably in December. Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) Chief Executive, Andrew House, who is currently attending Europe's biggest electronics games fair 'Gamescom' in Germany, said the company has received an overwhelming response to PS4. Sony has so far recorded well over one million pre-orders for its upcoming console worldwide.

PlayStation 4 has been priced $399.99 (around ₹25,350), almost $100 less than its arch rival Xbox One ($499- close to ₹31,000), which is expected to be launched in November. Just a few days ago, Microsoft postponed the launch of its gaming console in some European countries to 2014, which is sure to give a head start for Sony to consolidate its share in the market.

Soon after the launch of PS4, Sony is expected to slash prices of PS3 and PlayStation Vita to $199 in the US and €199 in Europe.
